Preston Street shrubbery - should it stay or should it go?

April 30, 2015 12:33 PM

Hannah FraserLast summer, the shrubbery on Preston Street next to the courts was the cause of many complaints. Nettles grew to alarming heights and obstructed the pavements, and many residents think the shrubbery is an eyesore. It was put in several years ago to deter people from parking on the grass verges next to the courts.

Shropshire Council have said they don't have the funds to replant the shrubbery or to give it the maintenance it needs, but they would consider replacing it with a grass verge lined with trees.

Councillor Hannah Fraser said

"I would like to hear from residents about the shrubbery. Some people have said for years that they think it should be removed, and a grass verge with a line of trees would certainly look better than it did last summer. Please get in touch with me to let me know what you think of this idea."
